Todd's trip to S. Africa

Todd returned earlier this week from his mission trip to S. Africa. Despite multiple delays in getting there, the team made it there safely. Todd and co. came back with some great memories and stories to last a lifetime. VOX United (http://www.voxunited.org/) is doing an amazing job of ministry over there.

Wishing Upon a Meteor...?!?!

One of my favorite new things this summer has been attending the Meteor Festival in Union City Michigan. In this quaint town, author & illustrator Patricia Polacco lives & finds inspiration for her children's books. Grandma Chris Haynes studies this author each year in her 2nd grade classroom in Texas. Grandmommy, PePaw, Grandma Chris and the three "buckaroos" (Thomas, Zachariah & Nathanael) attended a fun filled day. One of her books, Meteor, shares about how you can wish on this rock that fell into her grandparents yard and your wishes will come true! (but there are some restrictions on what you can wish!)

Here is a blog about the author: http://www.patriciapolacco.com/

Here are more pictures from our fun filled day!:

Summer Time Blues

We have been beating the "Summer Time Blues" with cherry & blueberry pickin! We have gone blueberry picking twice in the last few weeks. Recently, our friends, Anthony, Kandye, Trevor & Kelsey were visiting Michigan to cool off from the heat in Alabama. We went blueberry pickin & to the beach among other things.

Here are some fun pictures from their trip and other Summer time fun: http://picasaweb.google.com/ZeelandJohnsons/Summer08Fun/photo#5231029834663303714
